Everything we tell guests on the phone about San Diego, written down: what the town is actually good at, which season does what, where to stay, and the mistakes visitors make.
San Diego is a collection of beach towns that happens to share a city government, and the neighborhood you pick decides the entire trip. Pacific Beach is boardwalk and taco shops; Mission Beach is a sand-locked peninsula between the ocean and a bay; La Jolla is cliffs, sea caves, and sea lions; Little Italy and the Gaslamp are urban and walkable. We keep homes in all of them, and we will tell you honestly which one suits your trip.
Highs between 65 and 78°F almost every month. May and June bring marine layer mornings that burn off by noon.
Tourmaline for longboards, PB Point on a west swell, Blacks for experts, and gentle bay water in Mission Bay for kids.
1,200 acres of gardens, seventeen museums, and the world's best-known zoo, ten minutes from downtown.
Valle de Guadalupe wine country and Puerto Nuevo lobster are a 90-minute drive south with a passport.
Winter (Dec–Feb). 65°F days, biggest surf of the year, gray whales offshore, and the lowest coastal rates.
Spring (Mar–May). Wildflowers, mild water, and the start of May Gray. Great value before Memorial Day.
Summer (Jun–Aug). Peak. Warm water, packed boardwalks, and June Gloom mornings. Book beach homes months out.
Fall (Sep–Nov). The best season locals keep quiet — warmest ocean, clearest skies, thinnest crowds.
Pacific Beach. Three miles of boardwalk, surf shops, and the best casual food-to-sand ratio in the county.
La Jolla. Sea caves, sea lions, cliff walks, and the county's most refined village dining.
Mission Beach. Ocean on one side, calm bay on the other. Best for families who want both.
Little Italy. Downtown's best restaurant district and Saturday market, walkable to the waterfront.
Gaslamp Quarter. Victorian downtown blocks, Petco Park at the edge, nightlife until 2am.
Fly into San Diego International (SAN) — 15 min. A car is effectively required — mountain and desert distances are not walkable, and rideshare coverage thins out badly at the edges of each market. Every Nomad home has off-street parking included in the rate, and 2 in the portfolio have EV charging.
We do not run guided experiences in this market yet. We will point you at the operators we would use ourselves.

San Diego FAQ
If the answer you need is not here, send it to us and we will answer it here as well as to you.
Ask us something elseMission Beach for bay-side calm water and the boardwalk, Coronado for wide flat sand, or Pacific Beach's quieter north end. Downtown and the Gaslamp are better for adults.
A marine layer that keeps coastal mornings overcast in late spring, usually clearing by early afternoon. Inland neighborhoods are sunny the whole time.
In summer, yes. Any listing here should state exactly how many off-street spaces you get, and whether they are garage, driveway or permit street spots — ours do.
